THE LADIES' GOLF TOURNAMENT.

A good start was made on Monday morning with the Ladi«s' Golf Tournament in spite of the very inclement weather — a cold south-west wind and rain showers. Play began with the first round of the Championship, for wbich there uere 13 byes, leaving only thuee matches to be played. Thete resulted as follows :— Mrs Wilder beat Mw Vornon by 3 up and 2to play. Mn Higgins beat Mrs Scott by 9 up and 7 to Mrs Pyne beat Mrs Gould fey 5 up and 3 to play. The next event was the Handicap over 18 holes (meda.l vl<vy)for whioh 29 players teed off in apito of th-> cold aud boisterous weather.' With regard to the Handicap Match, held on Monday, it should be mentioned that some of the boat players did not enter for it, as they were reserving themselves for the Championship.
