Quite the moßt quaint personage I ever encountered was an old Germnn profemor of music, whose etudio adjoined our house, and in and out whioh we were accustotnetf to run to our hearts' content as ohildren when no business was proceeding. One morning there presented himself in the profewoi'a sanctum a pompous young man, who desired to receive a course of lessons in singing. "Vcr' goofc," replied the professor. "Nothing conld be easier ; dot ees, if you haf Brought it mit you ? " " Brought what with me ? " inquired the young fellow, as he began fumbling for the fee. " Not dot ! " answered the old man drily. "I mean der voioe. A great many people oorae to me for lessons and do not bring der voicea mit dem ! ''
