Fruit.— The market is practically hare of all descriptions of fruit, and prices show a decided improvement all round. In view of the lateness of the season and probable small supplies, we believe prices will be considerably higher than have Titled lately. Quotations will therefore bo nominal and liable to fluctuations. Oranges are plentiful, and range low. Apples 10s to 12s; locally-grown, 5s 6d to 7s. Oranges (Sydney), 53 to 7s ; Tahiti, none. Lemons, 103 to 14s. Mandaring, 10s. Sevilles, 10a. Pines, lls od. Bananas scarce ; not sufficient for local demand. Pusioa fruit, 8s 6d. Cocoanuts, Bs. Peanuts, 3£d. Wainuts, 6Jd to6d. Dates, figs, Ac, in stock. Produce.— Eggs plentiful. We can place any quantity. Fresh butter, 7d to 9d ; prime salt, 7d to Bd. Bacon : Roll. 5d to sid- Hams, 6Jd to 7d. Pig », 2}d. Cheese : Farmers' hardly saleable ; factory, 4d to <Jd ; Akaroa, 3id to 4d. Honey, 3Jd to id. Beeawax, wanted. Potatoes : Derwonts (northern), 35s to 4tis, and havo inquiry southern, 25s to 35b ; kidneys, £2 to £2 10s. Onions : Melbourne, 7s 6d ; Canterbury, 4s lOd to 5s lOd. Poultry has good demand, and prices firmer all round. Quotations subject to market fluctuations.
