The winter demand for farm and station hands is weak as yet. and nothing less than an earthquake (in the shape of a rise in prices) will shake up the "dry bones" and bring back the old stir and life. Late wages : Couples, .£6O niifl £65 ; ploughmen, 15s and 17s 6d ; shepheuls, £52; cooks, 20s; grooms, 153; gardeners, 20* ; milker*. Bs, 10j, l?s. and 15s.
