(2) Broadly speaking, a profe.-sional is a person who engages in, or assists in, or teaches any athletic exercise for money or other remuneration ; and a person who knowingly competes with or against a professional for a prize of .any description, or in public, ipso facto, forfeits his status as an amateur.
