OTERAMIKA.

September s.— The Seaward Bush Tailway line has the first coat of ballast on as far as Oteramika station, some four miles from the'end of the line. The recent heavy snowstorms have made some parts of the line so bad that a ballasn engine cannot go on for a few days, as it is very soft. Mr Freeman kept the men working, and the line from the Gorge Road station to the ballast pit is in good order, and Mr Freeman works the engine in taking ballast to the yard, and making up the platform. There is thus no delay. I am quite sure that no time will be lost by Mr Freeman and his men in having the line finished.— Occasional Correspondent.
