THE MINNESOTA CALAMITY.
Washington, September 5. One hundred and fifty million trees were destroyed by the forest fires in Minnesota.
The smoke renders navigation of Lakes Superior and Michigan dangerous.
Details of a most shocking description continue to be received.
One hundred of those who escaped from the fires are partially blinded by the beat scorobing their eyeballs. Three hundred square miles were devastated. Fresh fires have sprung np in Ohateauguay, Brie, M'Kean, and Elk counties, and it is feared they will reach cultivated country covered with wheat fields.
Th*a dairying district of Minnesota has been destroyed. It is believed an incendiary started the fire in order obtain v.- v <a outtin B in the pine wood«
