THE POOLE FOND.

The secretaries intimate that there are no further subscriptions to acknowledge this week. laet Saturday's Daily Times contained the following advertisement, signed by Mrs Poole : The Poole Fund. As I desire the money subscribed to be handed direct to me, would all kind friends agreeable to this please forward their names to me at once. Mrs John Poole, St. Kilda. In order to assure subscribers that the money co far received towards the fund had been properly dealt with in the meantime, Mr R. Driver, one of the secretaries — Mr Hazlett being out of town — advertised as follows in Tuesday's Times : — The Poole Fund. For the information of those who have subscribed to this fund I have to state that the money was deposited as received in the Bank of New Zealand in the names of Mr W. T. Hazlett and mysetf . All subscriptions have been already advertised in the Otago Witness. As soon as the fund is closed a meeting of the subscribers will be called to determine in what manner tbe money is to be disposed of. R. Driver. Subscribers will thus Bee that complications have arisen — entirely from an outside source — for which the promoters of the movement cannot account and are in no wise responsible. In these circumstances the secretaries deem it their duty to take the opinion of the subscribers as to the disposal of the moneys received, and I am authorised to state that a meeting of subscribers to be held in Dunedin will be called for an early date, and to invite thoße living at a distance to forward at once opinions as to how the fund should be disposed of. The secretaries will accept the directions of the bulk of the subscribers (in value) as to what should be done. [authorisation ] I authorise the insertion of the above, on behalf of myself and co-secretary. Reynolds Driver. Dunedin, June 6.
