LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting, held on Wednesday, was attended by the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr J. P. Maitland), and Messrs W. Dallas, H. Clark, J. Duncan, and A. M'Kerrow. Woodland.— Mr R. B. Berney applied for a grazing license over section 19, block VII, Woodland. The Ciutha County Council wrote offering no objection to the application being granted. — Consideration deferred. Run 346. — Ranjrer MVKenzie forwarded an offer from Mr E. E. Waller to take up Run 346, Wakatipu, for the rabbiting, and without payment of valuation for improvements. — To be offered yearly license for pastoral purposes, under section 116, at £1, with license fee (£1 Is). Mr T. Chalmer, on behalf of Mr O. E. E. Waller, applied to be allowed to surrendar his pastoral license, No. 674, over Run 346 d, Wakatipu. — Adjourned for a fortnight for further consideration. Cemetery Reserve. — The Anderson's Bay Cdiuetery Trustees applied for an additional area of 21a 3r 25p, adjoining the present cemetery, in block VII, Otago Peninsula.- Government recommended to set aside the area referred to as an additional cemetery reserve. Cromwell Hospital Reserve —Mr William Fraser, M.H.R , forwarded, on behalf of tho Cromwell Hospital Trustees, a request that an area of 14a lr 3p, adjoining the Hospital Reserve, section 12, block 111, Cromwell, and being part of section 48 of the same block, be reserved as an extension of the Hospital Resorvo. — The Government recommended to set aside the aroa referred to as a reserve for Cromwell Hospital ; in the meantimo area to 'be marked off, and section 4, block 111, Cromwell, to be reduced by the samo. Gimmerhurn.— Mr W. F. Indcr, lon behalf of Mr J. H. Lory, applied for a grazing license over section 18, block VII, Gimmerburn.— Yearly license and issue under section 116 for pastoral licenses at Is per [aero with license fee ; licsnso to date from April 1 last. Blackstone. — Mr W, L. Simpson, on behalf of Mrs Isabella Charles, applied under section 114 of the act, t) be allowed to acquire the southern half of section 54, block 11, Blackstone. — Consideration deferred. Mr Hinkson Mcc applied, under section 114 of the act, for the balance of section 54, block 11, Blackstone.— Consideration deferred. Maniototo.— Mr T. Chalmer, on behalf of James Howell, applied for a license for grazing purposes over section 10, block XV, Maniototo.— Yearly license to issue under section 116 of act, for pastoral purposes, at 6d per acre, with license free. Mr T. Chalmer, on behalf of Thomas Howell, applied for a grazing license over sections 6 and 22, block XIV, Maniototo. —Yearly license to issue under section 116 for pastoral purposes at 9d per acre, with license fees'; license to date from April 1 last. Mr T. Chalmer, on behalf of James Howell, applied for a grazing license over 407 acres of the village reserve in block 11, Maniototo.— Yearly license to issue under section 116 for pastoral purposes, at 9d per acre, with license fee; license to date from April 1 last. Mr W. F. Inder, on behalf of W. I. Baxter, applied for a .crazing licanse ever the village reserve on blocK 11, Maniototo —Declined. Budle —Mr Alexander Cameron applied for small-grazing Run 121j, Budle.— Approved. Messrs K. B. Martin and Son, on behalf of Alexander Cameron, applied for a grazing license over 80 acres of the mining reserves adjoining small grazing Run 12li, Budle, iv order that a practicable fencing boundary might be obtained for the run. — Yearly license granted over area referred to for pastoral purposes at £1, with license fee Applications Approved.— The following applications were approved :— For village settlement land under Land for Settlement Act : Mary M'Auley.lot.Bs, Teaneraki. To exchange perpetual lease for lease in perpetuity : R. S. Stephenson, section 6, block XII, Strath-Taicri. To complete purchase of deferred-payment land : Michael Kel- - leher, sections 47 and 65, block 111, Tuapeka West. For rural land on lease in perpetuity : John Cameron, section 9, block VI, Woodland. Catlins. — Ranger Fraser reported on th,e application by Andrew Watson and Frederick Wilson to be allowed to acquire, under section 115 of the act, section 27, block VII r, Catlins.— To be withdrawn from sale in the meantime. Ranger Fraser reported on the application by James - Wright to acquire, under section 115 of the act, section 10, block VIII, Catlins.— Granted under section 115 on occupation with right of purchase at £1 per acre. Greenvale.— Ranger Fraser reported upon section 43, block IV, Greenvale, lately held by Alexander Durward under village settlement. — Recommended to be set apirt and declared open as a village homestead allotment on lease in perpetuity, at capital value of £4 per acre. Arrears Paid. — The Receiver of Land Revenue reported that J. M'Atarnney, whose perpetual lease was declared forfeited, had now paid all arrears. — Resolution No. 25 of March 7 last rescinded, all arrears having been paid. HuMMOCKSipE. — Mr A. S. Orbell's application for a revaluation of his small grazing Run 171k, Hummockside, was again considered, and it was decided to fix the rental at 9d per acre. Taieri Lake. — Mr M. J. S. Mackenzie applied for an area of about 150 acre's on Run 20(5f, Taieri Lake, lying between his two pre-emptive rights.— Dechoed. ' , Grazing Runs'Qpen for Application.— The following list of small grazing runs opened for application on March 22 last, but not applied for, was submitted to the board's consideration :—Section 1, block XVI, Maerewhenua. 389 a lr 9p, annual rental lOd per acre ; section 2, block XVI, Maerewhenua, 656 a3r 17p, annual rental lOd per acre; section 3, block XVI, Maerewhenua, 587 a2r 23p, annual rental lOd per acre ; section 6, block X VI, Maerewhenua, 571 alr 28p, annual rental 9d per acre : section 7, block XVI, Maerewhenua, 593 a, annual rental 9d per acre ; section 3, block IV, Kakanui, 1655 a, annual rental 10d per acre; sections 2, block 11, 1 and 3, block 111, 1, block VII, and 2, I block VIII, Kakanui, and section 2, block XIV, Kyeburn, 10,376 a, annual rental 4d per acre.— lt was resolved that the late lessees be offered a license for three years under section 219 of the act, at the rentals stated above, the licenses to date from March 1 last. If during the currency of said license the lessees should be desirous of effecting further improvements, the particulars of such improvements would have to be submitted for approval of the board ; otherwise valuation for same would not be allowed at the end of the said term of three years. The same resolution to apply to the cases of John Porter, Walter Smith, and John Chesney, they having applied to surrender their leases at tho respective rentals of 3d, lOd, and lOd. In the event of the above offer not [ being accepted, the beard would proceed to open I the sections to the public, subject to substantial I reduction of valuations for improvements. The board adjourned at 3 50 p.m.
