NEW AUSTRALIA.
Adelaide, May 1. The barque Royal Tar has returned from the New Australia colony, bringing back seven settlers, including one New Zealander. They refuse, however, to state their reasons for leaving the settlement. Mooney, one of the trustees who returned by the vessel, eulogises the work already done. Mrs Lane, wife of the promoter of the movement, was also a passenger by the Royal Tar, having returned to Australia for tbe purpose of organising a shipment of women, to leave for the settlement on the return trip of the vessel.
At the annual meeting of the Orphan Home at Parnell, the Governor presiding, the report showed that the interest account had fallen £100 a year, while the maintenance account had increased £40. Since tbe Costloy bequest became available tho public subscriptions had largely fallen off. Owing to this state of things no further children would b« at present ad^ mitfced without provision for their main* tenance,
