Fruit.— Market is still over-supplied with plums and apples, but it is somewhat bare of really prime dessert fruits, and any of prime quality bas ready sale. Plums, id to 1 Jd. Apples : Windfall* unsaleable ; cookers, Id to lid ; eaters, Id to 2d ; imported ribstones, Bs. Pears : Imported, 9s to 10s ; locally grown, Id to 2£d. Peaches, l§d to 3d. Oranges : Italian, 253 (short supply). Lemons, 22s 6d to 255. Tomatoes (supply not equal to demand) : Hothouse, 3id ; outside grown, 2id. Bananas, 2£d. Cocoanuts, 10s to 12s. Produce.— Eggs : Very scarce. Butter : Fresh, 5d to 7d ; salt, 6d to 7d. Bacon : Roll {scarce), 6id to 7d. Hams, 7cl to 9d. Pigs (strong demand), 4d. Honey, 4d to 4Jd. Beeswax, Is Id. Potatoes (over-supplied) : Kidneys, £2 10s to £3 ; Derwents, £2 103 to £3 10s. Onions : Christchurch, £6 to £7 ; Melbourne, £7 to £8.
