There is a very fair demand for country hands at the following rates : — Station and farm couples, £65 to £75 ; married gardeners, £80 ; shepherds, £55 and £60 ; farm men, £1, and extra for harvest ; cooks, 20s and 255 ; grooms, 15s and 20s ; dairy people, 10s, 12s 6(1, 15s, and 20s ; flax cutter 3, 4s and 4s Cd per ton ; ilax lads, 7s to 10s ; town boys, 53 to 10s.
