WAIKOIKOI.

February 19.— Harvest is moving on rapidly, though the weather is not at all settled. Last Monday a very strong wind blew all day, and made cutting extremely difficult, but I have not heard that the crops were much damaged. Very good crops of turnips are to be seen here. Cembtery Road.— This road still remains an eyesore to all concerned. The cemetery trustees have several times brought it under the notice of the council. Several of the settlers in the vicinity are willing to give their horses and time to do the grading, provided the grader is sent at a time when they are not busy, and on condition that the council reduce the grade on the hill considerably, jit is to be hoped the council will give this important matter their immediate attention.

Ecclesiastical. — Fo r the vacancy caused by the resignation of the|Rev. Wm. Scorgie the Revs. Messrs Miller and Gumming have been heard, and the Revs. Messrs Biaset, Skinner, and Smellie are likely yet to ba heard before any call is made. The many friends of the Rev. W. Scorgie will be pleased to hear that he is meeting with success in his new charge. Scholastic— The local school breaks up on Friday for a month's holiday.
