NOTES BY NET PLA.Y.

The fixture University v. Balclutha was not played last Saturday, and Kaituna v. Ex-High School was postponed on account of the athletic meeting. The Milton Club sent their representatives by coach to Lawrence, and although a high wind was blowing, a pleasant afternoon was spent. Sixteen sets were played, and resulted in a win for Lawrence by 33 games. At CArisbrook the fixture with Otago was played, and resulted in a win for the latter club by about 30 games. The most noteworthy games were the singles between Miss G. Rattray and Miss L. Mackenas and that between Mr Koch and Mr Harraway. Miss Rattray played a very strong game and was leading all through tho 89t. It is a pity Otago was not represented by this lady at the championship meeting in Auckland. Mr Koch had scored 6— love before Mr Harraway apparently decided what was the best game to play against him. He then scored two games, but Koch was too steady and too certain, and the set end 9to 2. It was understood that Mr Harraway was too unwell to play this season. His friends and the Carisbrook Club have reason to be glad that such is not the case. On Saturday next the Milton, Balclutha, and University Clubs meet in a triangular match at Milton. Yesterday the Kaituna played the University at Kaituna, but the result has not reached me in time for thene notes. The Obago championship meeting is definitely fixed to take place on March 10 and 17. It is intended that play shall continue during that week, and the finals only be played on the 17th. Entries close on Monday, the sth. The inter-club match Otago v. Carisbrook took place at the Carisbrook Club's courts on Saturday. Afternoon tea was provided by the Carisbrook ladies during the match.
