PROBLEM 1162.
[Black.]
[In entering the above in the Liverpool Mercury the contributor remarks :—" The problem, which I don't think has appeared in any of tho papers, is illustrated and framed in a dwelling house in a little village iv Lanarkshire. It was composed by a lad of 17, who was a fine player and gave great promise, but who was unhappily cut off at tho early ago of 18. The owners of tho problem-picture did not know the solution, so I undertook to find it out and send the position for your competition." It will not be found difficult.]
