CLUTHA TEMPERANCE CONVENTION.
The above convention met at Clinton on Saturday last. It was well attended, and but for the very bad weather prevailing nearly every township in the electorate would have been represented. It was decided to nominate a committee at the forthcoming licensing elections — every part of the electorate, as far as possible, to be represented by a member. The names of five gentlemen were submitted and approved of, and the three other nominations are to be made immediately. The convention then considered what should be done to secure a prohibition vote in March. It was decided to distribute to every elector a circular, having on the one side a copy of the voting paper scored as a prohibitionist voter would score it, and on the other side an appeal to the electors to vote for "No licenses." Societies were requested to hold prohibition meetings as often as possible up to the date of the election, and also to see that all prohibition voters are registered and that all names improperly on the roll are struck off. Individual prohibitionists were urged to make as good a use as possible of the press, and to do their best to look up and convey electors to the booths on polling day.
