Draughts Items.

Tirnaru.— Mr D. Stewart, the well-known draughts player of Timaru, recently met a worthy opponent in Mr Sim, of Temuka. Six games were played ; Mr Stewart won three games, Mr Sim one game, and two garues were drawn.

Oamaru.— Mr J. A. Boreham's column in the Oamaru Mail is again running, and is looking lively.— An unrestricted match of ten games for a stake was commenced on Monday week between Messrs P. Power and D. Halpin, and after the second sitting the score stood — Power 3, Halpin 2, drawn 2.

Invercargill.— A correspondent in writing says he paid a visit to Inyercargill recently and was surprised to find draughts almost a thing of the past. This can hardly be credited, especially when wo consider that but a season or two ago they numbered three flourishing club 3.
