GOLF.
The final tie between Messrs H. Park and J. R. Scott for the trophy presented by tho Otago Golf Club for the member winning the club cross the largest number^ of times during the last year was played off on Thursday afternoon, and after a close game resulted in a win tor Mr Scott by three strokes, the scores being — Mr Scott (scratch) 98, and Mr Park (owe 2 strokes) 101 (99 + 2). Though the weather was favourable, neither player was up to his usual form, as may be gathered from the scores. Both, however, were more than usually unfortunate at several stages of the game. The following are tjhe detailed scores : — Mr Scott — b, 8, 4, 5, 10, 5, 4, 4, 6, 4, 6, 7, 6, 5, 6, 2, 5, 6 = 98 ; Mr Park— s,' 6, 4, 4, 5, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 4, 6, 7, 5, 5, 5, 7 = 99.
A regulation limiting the maximum State school salary in Tasmania to £500 per annum is now in force.
