FRUIT AND PRODUCE REPORT.
Thomas Paterson and Co., fruit and produce agents, Manso street, report for week ending January 24 :— Fruit.— Market fairly well supplied, with good demand for dessert and jam fruits, except apples, which have slow sale. Italian oranges and lemons, 25s ; Sydney oranges, hardly saleable, 10s. Plumß, imported, have been in excess of demand, and mostly arriving in bad order, 2s 6d to Bs ; local, ljd to 2Jd. Apricots, 3d to 4d. Peaches, 3id to 4jd. Tomatoeß— Nelson, 3d to 3Jd ; Auckland 2d to 3d. Cucumbers, 3s to 4s per dozen. Apples', 4s to 6s per case. Pears : Jargonelles, 2d ; Bonchretien, 3d to 4d. ■ Pineapples, 6s to 8s per case. Passion fruit, 8s to 12s per case. Raspberries, 5d per lb. Rhubarb, 5s to 6s per cwt. Produce. — Eggs in moderate supply and good demand. Fresh butter, 4Jd to 8d ; prime salt, 6d to 7d. Cheese : Akaroa, 4d to 4fd ; factory, 4Jd to sd. Bacon : Roll, 6d to 6Jd. Hams, 7Jd to 9d. Pigs, 3Ad. Honey, 4d to 4sd. Beeswax, Is Id. Potatoes, demand in excess of supply ; we sold prime Peninsula at £5 ; others, £4 to £5 ; reds, hardly saleable. Onions, £8. Poultry has fair demand.
