LAND BOARD.
The weekly meetißg of the Land Board was attended by the Chief Commissioner (Mr J. P» Maitland), Messrs H. Clark, W. Dallas, J Duncan, and A. M'Kerrow.
Benger. — Mr David Walker applied for a license, under section 116 of tha act, to occupy section 66, block 111, Benger. — License granted at a rental of 10s per annum, with license fee, £lls.
Hindon. — Mr James Matheson (for himself and others) applied for a renewal of license No. 547 over the reserves and unoccupied Crown land in the Hindon Hundred. — Consideration deferred for ranger's report.
Forfeited Pastoral Runs. — The board was requested to fix rentals and terms upon which the under-mentioned forfeited pastoral runs should be offered : — Run 444, 9800 acres, Motatapu; and runs 458 and 468, 57,400 acres, Matatuki. — Governor-in-Council recommended to offer the runs for pastoral licenses at the following terms and rentals : — Run 444 for 10 years at £5 per annum, and Runs 453 and 468 for 21 years at £10 per annum.
Naseby.. — Mr Richard Lory renewed his aplication for 390 acres adjoining section 8, block XI, Naseby. — Declined.
Upper Owaka. — A petition was received from the settlers at Upper Owaka, requesting that they be allowed to acquire portion of land on Run No. 72a, lying between their sections in block VIII, Warepa, and the Puerua river. — Declined.
Maniototo. — Ranger Fraser reported on section 11, block I, Maniototo, held under perpetual leaße by Patrick Lewis. — To be allowed two months from date to effect required improvements ; failing which, the lease would be declared forfeited.
Gimmerbukn. — He also reported on the application by Mr John M'Leod for a grazing right over sections 13 and 14, block I, Ginimerbnrn. — Declined.
Lower Hawea. — Mr C. G. Harvey wrote complaining about Mr M. Curran not allowing a supply of water into the lagoon on block V, Lower Hawea, as promised by him. — Ranger M'Kenzie was instructed to visit the ground, and if access to water had not been given by AJr Curran the ranger was ordered to remove his fencing. Grebnvale. — Mrß J. P. Kirke requested that when Runs 212b and 212f, Greenvale, were sold she be allowed a month or six weeks in which to remove her stock. — One month's notice to be given for removal of stock. Kakanui. — Mr T. Chalmer, on behalf of Mr John Porter, applied to be allowed to surrender small grazing run, section 1, block 111, section 1, block VI, and section 2, block VII, Kakanui. — Referred to the ranger for a full report.
Tuapeka. —An application by Mr Allan M'lntosh for rural land for cash, section 77, block XVIII, Tuapeka, was approved.
Woodlands. — The following applications to transfer interest on perpetual lease were'approved : — Robert Gray to John Henderson, sections 3 and 4, block XIII, Tarras ; Robert P. Sharp to Alexander Sharp, sections 20 and 23, block X, Woodlands.
Sutton. — Mr William Kennedy applied for a reconsideration of surrender of small grazing run, section 2, block I, Sutton. — Resolution No. 4 of 17th inst. rescinded as requested by applicant.
St. Bathans. — Ranger Fraser reported upon the complaint made against Mr Thomas Keenan, licensee of Run No. 226, St. Batjhans, for having cultivated portion of his run, contrary to the conditions under which he held his license. — It was resolved to inform Mr Keenan that the board had ascertained that without their knowledge he had cultivated an area of about 130 acres on his run, his license only giving him a right to the pasturage of the land. The board did not feel inclined to take any action in the matter, but Mr Keenan would have to cultivate the area in a proper manner and not exceed the area mentioned, so that the sale would not be deteriorated.
Dombt. — Mr Stewart Richmond applied to be allowed to surrender small grazing Run 17a, Domet (Ben Lomond). — Under the circumstances the board could not recommend an acceptance of surrender.
Married Woman Selecting. —Mr T. Chalmer asked the board to obtain .the opinion of the Crown lands solicitor as to the quantity of land a married woman could apply for, and also as to whether there was any restriction as to the number of small grazing runs that might be applied for by the same applicant on the one day. — It was resolved that the opinion of tho Crown solicitor be obtained on the, first point submitted with reference to married women.
Revaluations. — Rangers Hughan and Fraser submitted revaluation of the under-mentioned small grazing runs, agricultural leases, and perpetual lease and deferred payment land :—: — Small grazing runs : H. Alexandra. — Mr Vincent Pyke requested that the unsurveyed portion of the town of Alexandra be surveyed into sections of from two to three acres, and offered for sale. — Referred to raDger for report.

The following sections in block X, Woodlands, were recommended to be set apart and declared open by Governor as village homestead allotments, at capital values suggested by surveyor, to include loading: — Section 2, 27a lr, 25s ; section 3, 38a 2r, 255 ; section 4, 38a 2r, 25s ; section 5, 21a 2r, 255 ; section 6, 20a 3r, 25a ; section 7, 20a, 253 ; section 8, 28a 2r, 25s ; section 9, 17a 3r, 25s ; section 10, 21a, 255. Section 15, 207 a, was recommended for notification at capital value of 18s 9d per acre, to include loading. Maerewhenua. — Mr J. A. Macpherson applied to transfer perpetual lease section 22, block 11, Maerewhenua, to George Youngson, — Approved.
Crookston. — An application by Adam Barr to complete purchase oE deferred payment section 22, block IV, Crooßstoo, was approved.
Deferred payment Licenses. — The receiver of land revenue forwarded a list of perpetual and small grazing run lessees and deferred payment licensees who were in arrears with rents, instalments, and interest. — To show cause to the board within one month from date why licenses and leases should not be forfeited for non-payment of arrears.
Highxay. — Messrs W., J., and G. Donaldson asked what time they would be allowed to remove their stock in the event of their obtaining small grazing run sections 10, 11, and 12, block IX, Highlay.— To be allowed a fortnight from day of sale.
