The specimen you sent is Navarellia squarrosa, a plant which is spreading into many pastures in this colony. It is a native of Chili and New California. I believe it is innocent of producing the bad effects which you suspect in your cow, which would require a careful examination by a qualified expert to ascertain the real cause of the ailment. A Reader.— Your dog seems to have been injured across the loins, causing inflammation of the kidneys (Nephritis), thus producing all the symptoms you mentioned, and resulting in a fatal termination.
