Jarvis contributed 64 and George Giffen 103. The Victorian team, requiring 372 to avert defeat, lost one wicket for 18 runs. January 4. In tbe second innings the Victorians were all out for 298. Worrall made 58, Walters 95, Layer 42, C. M'Leod (not out) 28. South Australia won the match by 74 runs. bouth Australia""^, new south WALES. Sydney^ January 7. The weather was fine yesterday for the cricket match South Australia v. New South Wales, but the wicket was rather soft. The visitors batted first, and were all disposed of for 117. Lyons (20) and Blinman (25) were chief scorers. New South Wales have lost three wickets for 38. January 8. New South Wales in their first innings against South Australia scored 393. Newell made 60, Iredale 64, Moses 104, and Callaway (not out) 60. January 9. Owing to the heavy rain last night the Sooth Australians had to bat again upon a

treacherous wicket, and were all out for 118 runs, New South Wales thus winning in an innings witb 158 to spare. G. Giffen scored 22, A. Jarvis 22, and Reedman 37. Turner took five wickets for 60, and Coningham five for 46. The fielding of the local men was magnificent.
