DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.
Weekly Report. Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows :—: — A small entry of horses was offered at our sale on Saturday, including the hurdle racehorse Jacob Faithful, which was passed in at 115gs. The horses forward comprised all classes, but the greater portion were light hacks and harness horses, for which the demand was very dull. More inquiry was experienced for draughts and springcart horses, and considering the selection offered a fair number of these changed hands. The slackness in the demand for light horses was owing, no doubt, to the rough weather and to the fact that few were advertised ; for, notwithstanding the result of Satnrday's sale, we are sure consignments of sound young and strong hacks or harness horses would sell well. We quote : For first-class draughts (extra heavy), £25 to £30 ; good ordinary draughts (young), £18 to £22 ; medium draughts, £12 to £16 ; aged draughts, £6 to £10; good hacks and harness horses, £12 to £16 ; medium do, £7 to £9 ; light and inferior do, £2 10a to £5
