WHY MEN DON'T MARRY.

Dear Emmeline,— Will you please grant me a little space for a few remarks from a man's point of view as to why do so many bachelors prefer to remain bachelors ? My reply to the question is simply because they think the girls are not gold enough. Men nowadays are more or less studied iv phrenology, physiognomy, graphology, &c , and can form a tolerably correct opinion of either sex. Many women place policy above principle ; and as for truth, it would seem to be a very secondary consideration. It is of no use pretending to be this, that, or the other thing ; she must be it, otherwise she will be found out, distrust being the result.

When a man wants to marry he looks around for a woman he can respect — one in whom whatever she says or whatever she does he can place implicit confidence. The rest is easy. As I mentioned in a previous letter, man loves to see and admire a kind, cheery, noble, womanly woman. I verily believe if there were more women of this stamp one would scarcely ever see men turn into chronic old bachelors.

Now, if the above rather plain remarks offend anyone, I ask forgiveness, as I have nob the slightest intention of offending anyone— l am, &c , Sue Rosa.
