Volley Firing. The following is the result of the annual volley firing for the year 1893 of the several corps in the Dunedin district : — • RIFLES. CARBINES. 1. City Guards ...12 03 1 B Battery ...10-45 2. Kaitangata ... 990 2. Otago Hussars 1019 3. North Dunedin 979 3. Naval Artillery 718 4. Bruce Rifles ... 809 4. Engineers ... 5 - 62 5. Highland Rifles 690 5. Port Chalmers 6. EastTaieri ... 571 Navals ... 204 7. Tuapeka Rifles (failed 6. L Battery ... I*so to compete) The values of the prizes are as follow : — Rifles : First, £17 15s lid ; second, £11 17s 2d ; third, £5 18s Bd. Carbines : First, £15 5s Id ; second, £10 3s 4d ; third, £5 Is Bd. Battalion Parade. A battalion parade was held last evening. The muster was at the Garrison Hall, after which the men were marched to the reclaimed ground and put through various manoeuvres. The following is the parade state :— Staff. — Colonel Webb, Adjutant Milne, and Sevgeant-maior Castle. Garrison Band. — 1 bandmaster, 2 sergeants, 18 privates ;— total, 21. North Dunedin Rifles. — 1 captain, 1 lieutenant, 5 sergeants, 3 corporals, 1 bugler, 38 privates ; — total, 49. City Guards.— l captain, 2 lieutenants, 4 sergeants, 1 bugler, 37 rank and file ;■ — total, 45. Highland Rifles. — 1 raptain, 1 lieutenant, 3 sergeants, 2 corporals, 1 bugler, 35 privates ; — total, 43.
