MR. BORROWS'S VIEWS.
Mr Andrew Borrows, the ptesenfc champion of Otago, writes :—: —
Scoring by points " is, in my humble opinion, the best method, and I believo thero is a great deal in what ''Veteran," the Stirling correspond dent, says when speaking of the decay of lawn tennis in England of late years— that it is to a very great extent due to the bad system of scoring. What need is there for such a complication as owe three-quarters of 15 and so on ? And I believe that a great many players, even old play era, do not understand the old plan thoroughly. Personally, although having played for nearly seven years, I must plead guilty to not having tho system at my finger ends. "Scoring by points" would certainly be the easiest method, and once fairly instituted the terrible worry in handicapping under the present system would be a thing of the past. Speaking of lawn tennis as being on the wane, I don't think such can bo said of the game in New Zealand, at least not in Dunedin, and 1 believe that if the system of scoring by points is adopted it will continue to flourish.
