FRUIT AND PRODUCE REPORT.
Thomas Patebson and Co., fruit and produce agents, Manse street, report for week ending December 6 : —
Fruit.— Market barely supplied with imported fruits ; local fruit, such as strawberries, cherries, &c , coming in freely. We quote :— Oranges, 8s 6d to 10s ; lemons, 12s ; pineapples, 8s 6d to 103 per case, 2s 6d to 4s Cd per dozen ; bananas, 2id ; strawberries (we are getting the bulk of the Waimate crops), 4cl to s^d. Paxton's, 5d to 6d ; cherries, fid to Bd, imported 12s psr half-case; plums, 5s 6M; gooseberries, Id to lid; apricots, 10s per half-case ; cucumbers, 5s to 63 per dozen ; tomatoes, Is ; grapes, 2s b'd to 3s. Produce. — Fresh butter in goocl demand, also eggs, which have risen in price. Prime salt butter, 6d to 7d. Bacon : Roll, 6d to 6!d. Hams, 7M to 9d. Pi^s, 3d to 3fd- Cheese, 4Vd to 5d ; we sold a prime lot of new Afearoa this week at 41d. Onions, 18s. Potatoes : Derwents have dropped considerably, and not inquired for ; Peninsula kidneys, of which we have a large supply, lid per lb ; others, Id to lid. Chaff, 50s to 60s. Poultry hrs good demand, and any sent forward realise full rates.
