Thomas Patkrson and Co., fruit and produce agents, Manse street, report August 16 :— Fruit.— Market just now is barely supplied, but we have good supply coming forward by Melbourne boat on Saturday next. We quote : Oranges, 6s to 7s; mandariDs, 7s 6d to 9s; lemons, 8s to 9a ; bananas lid to LJd ; pineapples have slow sale, 7s 6d to 9s per case ; passion fruit, 12a. Apples : Tasmanian only offering ; Stunner stone-pippins, French crabs, 10s to 11s; scarlet pearmains 12s; other sorts, 7s to 9s 6d. Cocoanuts, 10a per sack ; peanuts, ljd to If d, large stocks on hand. Barcelonas, dateß, figs, and other fruiterers' accessories .in stock. Produce.— Eggs are in short supply. Fresh butter, 8d to 9d— can place a quantity per week; prime salt (has very little inquiry), ?d to 7Jd; inferior, unsaleable. Bacon : Roll, 6Jd to 7d. Hams, Bid to 9id. Pifis (in good demand), 4jd to 4|d. Honey, 4d in tin, 3id in keg (slow sale). Beeswax, Is. Potatoes : Prime Derwents, £5 ss ; inferior, £A 10s to £i 15s; kidneys for seed (wanted). £5 10s to 1 M. Carrots, 27s 6d. Chaff: Best, 65s to 72s 6d: inferior, 2is to 42s 6d. Poultry is in fair demand, and any sent forward is readily placed. Rabbits, freshtrapped (wanted), 7d per pair. Rabbitskins, 7d to Is 4d. Onions : Best Melbourne, *10 (and rising) ; Canterbury, £8 to £8 10s.
