At the cluVa meeting in June last a chestnut gelding nsmed Dick won the Harness Trob, being entered as a maiden. Fragment, owned by Mr J. J. Smith, of this city, ran sepond. Mr Smith it is who has asked for the inquiry, alleging that tho gelding U identical with Tinker, who has won two races a1;a 1 ; Christchurch. The ownor of Fragment goes to Cartf rton to watch the cane on hisora behilf, taking a wi'nws with him who is said to know a thing or two about tho uorsu or horses conc;rmd. This w.fjueH", who htiß dealt a bit in horseflesh, U known in Uniting circles throughout the colouy, and is the same who was instrumental in settling tho identity of Brandy.
