THE SYDNEY MARKETS.

The National Mortgage and Agency Company, in their circular dated Sydney, 18th July, report:— Since our last issue, dated the 3rd instant, the market has been wavering, unsteady, and awkward to " catch hold of" : no Becurity of tenure so to speak. Potato values have rushed up, oats and maize are ahead of ourlast quotations, but business' has been on a restricted scale, and there is not the least flicker of the spirit of speculation in any direction ; buyerejwon't be tempted to purchase outside of absolute wants. It is very difficult to give reliable quotations. ' ■ . Oats.— A Blight increase in value has been established since the date of our last. Business has onlynieen of a jobbing nature, "and prices ruling here are hardly on a parity with New Zealand yalues ; from whence we get our principal supplies. We look for prices to firm, as spot stocks are light. Prime short feed; 2s 8d to 2s lOd ; milling, 2a lOJd- Tartarian seed to 2s lid. Potatoes.— Notwithstanding the -large supplies coming forward locally and, by seabqard, prices have'advanced steadily. Demand has been active, and the outlook points to stiff prices for the remainder of the season. Imports, since the 3rd infet.' total 38,500 sacks. ' - t \ Dairy Products.— Butter, best creamery and factory continue to meet with ready sale at full rates. Stock of summer makes (put down in cold chambers) are very heavy ; ' holders 'are getting nervous and forcing their stocks on the market at low prices. Cheese and bacon are quiet at unchanged rates.
