Greenslade (president) occupied the chair, and there was a large attendance. , The following report was read by the secretary (Mr S. D. Cronin) :— "In submitting the thirteenth annual report your committee have, to congratulate the members on the very satisfactory season, experienced. "Mainly through the generosity of bur president (Mr C. F. Greenslade) wehave been enabled to effect extensive improvements to the club's property during the past year, principal among which are the addition to the pavilion and the raising of the bowling green. • Thelatter was really a necessary undertaking, as all efforts- to grow suitable grass proved unavailing, despite the large amount of money and, expert knowledge expended on it yearly. The thanks of the club are due to Mr James Kirby for the interest he has taken in this matter, and your committee sincerely hope that the alteration will give entire satisfaction during the course of the ensuing season. They also gratefully acknowledge on your behalf' the Caledonian. Society's generous donation of £45 towards the work, "Two members of the Match Committee having resigned in the early part of the season, your General Committee resolved to discharge the duties of arranging matches, &c, in order to obviate the necessity of calling a meeting of the club to fill the vacancies. As no complaints have been heard, we consider that ■ the members are thoroughly satisfied with our action. " In inter-club matches a fair amount of success attended the club ; in fact there is room for congratulation, as the. rinks were chosen with the view of giving every member,- whether he was an j expert player or not,, an opportunity of taking part in these contests. " In tournament matches, two rinks were nominated to compete for, the Briscoe trophy, but they were unsuccessful. Three rinks were also entered for the New Zealand Bowling Association's tournament; held at Christchurch in February last. Of these, two rinks distinguished themselves by running into the semi-final tie, at which stage, unfortunately, they were defeated. Mr F. S. Stokes, however, succeeded in upholding our fame by gaining third place in the single* handed championship— a meritorious performance, on which we congratulate him. "The prizes presented for competition among the members produced plenty of friendly rivalry, being keenly contested in all cases, with the following results :— The president's prize was won by Mr J. Ogg; the Aged prize, (also presented by Mr Greenslade), by Mr J. Ogg; Mr J. A. Kirby's gift, by Mr J. Robertson ; Mr D. Dawson's gift, by Mr J. Dodds ; Mr Blaney's gift to the ' colts, 1 by -Mr H. M. Henderson: the double-handed tournament, by Messrs P. Fagan and J. Blaney ; rink tournament, by -Messrs S. D. Cronib, J. Wells, T. Chapiran, and J. Ogg; and the champion bowls, by Mr J. Ogg. . . "Your committee recommend for your con? sideration the alteration of rule No. 16 as will be .pointed out, as they are of opinion it will be in the interests of the club. ' ' • • "Iv conclusion, we regret to record the death of Mr David O'Connor,' which occurred during the season. As a member of your committee he was always ready and willing to assist in ; any undertaking that would further the interests of the club. On your behalf, we tendered our sincere sympathy to his relations." The balance sheet showed a balance to the credit of the club of £2 2s. , The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, stated that the club was in a better position financially th,an at thp beginning of last year. • The T. Chapman secqnded the niotjon, which was carried without discussipn. Mr Kirby (vic'p-president) read the report on financial matters, in connection with the improvement of the bowling green. Mr Ogg moved the adoption of the report. He expressed surprise that, according to the report, the cost of raising the green was estimated to come to £120, because when the scheme was first projected it was stated that the cost would be £9f>. However, now that the matter had been taken in hand, be hoped that members would co-operate and see it through. Mr Blaney seconded the motiqn, and in doing so expressed the opinion that when the members visited the ground they would bo well pleased with the work that was being carried on there. The motion was carried. The presentation of prizes then took nlape to the winners mentioned in the report. The following office-bearers were elected:— President— Mr C. F.
