A COLLIERY DISASTER.

(Peb Pbbss Association.) London, July i. By an explosion in a colliery at Thornhill, Yorkshire, 147 miners have been entombed. Id is feared all the men entombed by the explosion in the Combi pit, Thornhill, are lost. The origin of tbe explosion is shrouded in mystery. The pit is on fire. Ten of the miners entombed in the colliery at Thornhill have been rescued. They were found lying insensible amongst the dead. July 6. The men who were rescued from the' mine in Thornhill are dying. . l The entombed miners chalked their farewells on the side of thto pit when they knew that all chance of rescue was gone. Up to the present 98 bodies have been recovered. ' When the 10 men who were rescued aliva were brought out of the mine their relatives were almost frantic with joy, and most affecting scenes were witnessed.
