DUNEDIN HOUNDS.

On Tuesday this pack was tiken out for a shorb run with the view of keeping them in condition and to give a breather to the horses. Mr Taggart does not allow either men or horses to go off for want of work. A few new jumps had been improvised over the old run at Musselburgh, including a small water jump. The huntsman and whip had their usual mounts, Mr Taggart rode Kelly ; Mr Reid, Te Kooti; Mr H. Uourley, jun., Black Jack; Mr William Alexander, Starlight; Mr TJ Bowie, Broker: Mr M'Guinness, Kebel; Mr M'llroy, Moonlight ; Mr Elliot, Battler ; Mr R. Taggart, Harkaway ; Mr Allan,' Waitangi. The state of the ground caused the horses to slide, and the pack, which are in excellent condition just now, made the pace very fast;, which seemed to bother some of the horses and very likely some of 'the riders. Crossing the two doubles Kelly, who is a very clever horse, got hung up for a few second?, and Moonlight fell. Starlight was cannoned against,' causing him to hit hard, but he was very cleverly recovered by young Alexander. A weightcarrying Duntroon waß, without doubt, one of the best jumpers in the field. The chestnut Rattler, a new candidate, also jumped remarkably well. Black Jack is also a new aspirant, though he won a maiden plate on the flat. The hunt is no doubt answerable for bringing out many new horses, and is a great factor in adding to the hurdle and steeplechasing ranks. At the conclusion of the run Mr and Mrs Taggart passed a stirrup cup round, which was much appreciated by those who had taken part in the exciting exercise. Nimuod.
