BENEVOLENT TRUSTEES.

The weekly meeting of the Benevolent Trustees, held on the 3rd, was attended by Messrs R. Chisholm (chairman), A. Solomon, W. Bridgman, S. Swan, and H. Gourley.

Accounts amounting to £359 8s lOd were passed for payment. The Secretary rsported that an inmate of the institution, named Mary Wright, had died during the week from hemorrhage of the lungs. She was 74- years old.

The Chairman stated that a number of applications for relief had been received from able-bodied men who were willing to work but could find none. He suggested that a committee be appointed to deal with sucb cases, and to communicate with the owners of quarries and others in order to ascertain whether they had any work available —The suggestion was agreed to ; and on the motion of Mr Solomon, seconded by Mr Gooelby, the chairman and Messrs Swan and Bridgman were appointed the committee.
