Thursday, April 27. Very unsatisfactory weather prevailed for the annual meeting of the Duntroon Club, but the racing was capital, and there were some good finishes. Results : — District Maiden Plate, of 15sovs. Weight for age. One mile. 46— Mr J. Henderson's eh f Puzzle, 3yrs, 8.6 (f. Buddicombe) 1 6— Mr W. Sutherland's b g St. Konald, 3yrs, 8.5 (King) 2 22— Mi- P. Daley's b m Wenonah, 4yrs, 8.12 (M'Kay) 3 Also started : 9 Dolly 8.13 (Iloskins), 3 Laverna 8.12 (Tripp). Puzzle jumped off with the lead, but St. Ronald dispossessed her of it before half a mile was compassed, and led into the straight. The chestnut filly being then let out, raced home an easy winner hard held, Laverna a length and a half away, Dolly fourth. Time, lmin 58sec. Dividend, £1 14s. Nearing home O'Rourke closed on the latter and the pair drew up to Melton. Exile directly after was let loose, and closing on his field, cut them down, and after the semblance of a race up the straight with Melton, gained a long neck verdict. Time, 2min 26Jsec. Grant) 2 13— Mr S. Binney's b m Factory Girl, 13sec (Hoskins) 3 Also started : 2 Vivian Grey 25sec, 4 Governor 35sec. Tourist led at the end of a mile, but Factory Girl and Myrtle were closing up at a mile and half. In the last round Myrtle passed Factory Girl, who was trotting unkindly, and then set oft in pursuit of Tourist, and passing him, won by about 15 lengths. Time, Bmin 51sec. Dividend, £2 10s. District Handicap, of 20sovs. Six furlongs. 16-Mr W. J. Muldrew's b g Moonlight, by Chancellor-Queen of the Flat, aged, 9.5 (Tripp) 1 35-Mr J. Henderson's eh f Puzzle, 3yrs, 8.7 (Buddicombe) 2 6— Mr T. Brooks's eh m. Laverna, 4yrs, 7.7 (Paul) 3 Also started : 1 Waitangi 8.12, 18 Trixie 8.2, 1 Geordie 7.2, 9 Talune 7.5, and 9 Otiake 7.0. Laverna was the smartest to move, with Puzzle next, while Waitangi and Talune were slowest away. At the quarter post Moonlight closed on the leaders and led into the straight, with Puzzle second, and Laverna third. Moonlight easily held his own, and won without trouble. Time, lmin 26sec. Hack Selling Race, of lOsovs. Half a mile. 28— Mr Daley's brg Count d'Orsay, by Hornby —La Mode (Bamber) 1 4-Mr Dooley's Dolly (Hoskins) 2 43— Mr Sheehan's Hanlon (Dunn) 1 3 Also started: 1 Paddy, 6 Geordie, SHangi. From a good start Dolly led the field to the home turn, where Count d'Orsay wore her down, and won by a neck. Dividend, £2 145. The winner was bought in at £11. Consolation Handicap, of 15sovs. One mile. 15— Mr W. Smyth's b g O'Rourke, by Daniel O'Rourke, 7.7 (King) 1 17— Mr D. F. M'Kay's b g Melton, 9.0 (Bamber) 2 3— Mr A. Johnston's b m Trixie, 7.2 (Pyne) 3 Also started : 33 Le Roi 88, 4 Wenonah 6.7. O'Rourke shot off with a strong lead, and romped home three lengths in front of Melton, who was a length ahead of Trixie. Dividend, £4 4s.
