LAND BOARD.
The usual weekly meeting of the Land Board held on "Wednesday was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (Chief Commissioner), H. Clark, W. Dallas, J. Duncan, and A. M'Kerrow. SwiNßimN.— Mr A. B. Mann wrote asking the board to lay off 250 acres from Run 203 a when the latter was being cut up for settlement. The area the applicant desired to be laid off was adjoining his freehold section 3, block VII, Swinburn.— The matter was referred.to the chief surveyor for consideration when the survey of the run took place. Kurow.— Mr W. B. Cairns objected to a lease of portion of the coal reserve in block VI, Kurow, being granted to Mr J. D. Collins.— lt was decided to inform the objector that the board does not intend to lease the land in question.— Mr J. E. Wade applied to be allowed to surrender pastoral license held by him in respect of section 3, block IV, Kurow.— lt was decided to recommend the Government to iccept surrender of the lease, and to allow valuation for improvements when the land was reoffered. Wakatipu.— Mr F. M'Bride asked the board to open for selection sections 4 and 30, block VI, and sections 1, 2, and 3, block XIV, Mid- Wakatipu.— The application was declined. Landholdeks in AiutEAits.— A list of deferredpayment licenses and perpetual leases in arrears was forwarded by the Receiver of Land Revenue. —It was decided that unless the arrears were paid within one month, the leases and license holders should be required to show cause why licenses and leases should not bo forfeited. MaerewiiEiVUA.— The secretary of the Maerewhenua Public Hall Committee requested that the survey fees lodged in respect of the survey of the proposed site for the hall be refunded, as the site surveyed was not where it was applied for.— The application was granted. Lauder.— Mr A. C. Martin, on behalf of a client, applied for a reduction of the capital value, and also the valuation of improvements on section 9, block 111, Lauder.— Tho matter was referred to the ranger for a report. •Woodland.— Mr W. Carlton applied for permission to fence the front of the reserve on section 38, block I, Woodland, in order that the bush thereon might be preserved.— Permission was granted. . , Rock and Pillaii.— A report was received from Ranger Fraserou a sm all grazing run on section 11, block XII, Rock and Pillar, lately held by Mr John Spain.— The matter was referred to the chief commissioner to take necessary action. Maungatua.— Mr F. J. Stilling applied, on behalf of Mr Robert Robinson, to purchase or lease the portion of the landing reserve fronting section 39, block VI, Maungatua.— The application was referred to Ranger Hughan for a report. Expenditure of D.P. and. P.L. " Thirds."— The Taieri County Council forwarded a supplementary list, showing upon what roads it was intended to expend money accruing from perpetual lease and small-grazing runs.— The board approved of tho road lines. OiWMWELi,.— Mr William Olds made application for rural land for cash for amendmentsection 3H, block 111, Cromwell district. He requested to have the name of Mr Win, P. Rowe added to the application. — It was decided to add the name of Mr Rowe to the application as requested. Applications.— The following applications were approved :— For unsurveyed land on deferred payment: Robert Allan, section 13, block L Woodland. To complete purchase on deferred payment : J. Thompson and James Real (executors of the late H. Keenan), section 12, block XI, Waitahuna ; similar application by John Crutchley in respect of section 22, block V, SwinWaihemo.— Mr J. J. Ramsay wrote in respect of the expenditure of deferred payment and perpbtural lease "thirds" by the Waiaeino pp O unty Council.— Consideration of the matter was deferred for a week. Table Hill.— Mr Hugh Muir requested to be allowed to surrender his pastoral license over section 69, block IV, Table Hill.— lt was decided to recommend the Government to accept surrender. Run 121 d. —Mr George Clark suggested that Run 121 dbe bounded by the road line going from block I, Highlay, past trig E, Budle.— The matter was referred to the chief surveyor. Maniototo.— 2 he Secretary of the Education Board asked that an area of five acres be added to school reserve, section 18, block X, Maniototo, and forwarded the consent of the lessee of section 12 to the area being reduced from the section. — It was decided to recommend the Government to grant the request.'
