RAE'S JUNCTION.
August 15. — A church committee meeting was held in the schoolhouse here on the Bth inst, Rev. R. Telford in the chair. The secretary, Mr Richardson, submitted the half-yearly statement, which showed that upwards of Ll4 had been collected for the halfyear ending March 31, this being the highest of any half-year so far. ' Votes of thanks were passed to Miss Milne for collecting the sustentation fund, and to Mr A. Barr for precenting. A LrjfiACV. — I am given to understand that a settler at the Beaumont has had a sum of money loft him by a brother who died lately in England. I hops he may succeed in making his claim gocd, and that he and his family may live long to enjoy their good fortune. Miscellaneous. — Mr Phillips informs me that ho has again secured the Athemcum ground, about which there has been a good deal of correspondence between the committee and Mr Hall, ainl also in the papers —I understand that the good people at the Beaumont intend holding a soiree and concert and dance in aid of the school funds shortly. — A party of Chinamen are working in the creek below tho Junction at present.
