The pace was slow to the mile post, where Ben Wyvis, White Feather, and Oberland had drawn close to Fettersso. Down the hill Ben Wyvis joined Fetteresso, and they came on from White Feather, Madame Neruda, Colorado, and Cylindrical to Tattenham Corner, where Fetteresso was beaten. At the same time Madame Neruda brought her colours to the fore from Ben Wyvis, Colorado, and White Feather, these being followed over the road by Coromandel, Cylindrical, Ilsley, and Star. At this point the favourite was ruuniug in trouble, and when he collared White Feather at the distance they were only battling for place money, as with Colorado and Madame Neruda out by themselves, the former kept the advantage attained 200 yds from home, and won by a length, three lengths dividing second and third, and a head third and fourth. The pair had changed places a quarter of a mile from home, Trapezoid going on third from Catarina and Bel Demonio, while Nunthorpe wwavs v in a hopeless position amongst the ruck, and Arturo and Sainfoin heading the beaten lot on the right. Below the distance Cuttlestone began to die away, and with second place ,taken by Trapezoid she challenged Buccaneer and once reached his heels ; but he shook her off again opposite the j members' stand and "was beaten by three lengths.
