Rescision of Transfer.— Mrs MarY Mulvenia wrote requesting the board to rescind the approval of the transfer of perpetual lease of section 12, , block X, Kurow.— The Chief Commissioner explained that a fortnight ago a transfer of the section from Mrs Mulvenia to Mrs E. ,R. Chalmers was approved, the preliminaries being understood to be all in order, but now Mrs Mulvenia sent a letter saying she had no desire to make the transfer, the board having refused to sanction it when she first applied. The application for a transfer of the license to Mrs Chalmers was first made by Mrs Mulvenia on the 24th December 1891, but' at that time it was found that the title to the section, which was acquired by transfer, was not complete. After some correspondence the transfer to Mrs Mulvenia was registered all right, so that she was in a position to deal with the land, but nothing more was heard cf to Mrs Chalmers till a fortnight ago a letter came before the board from 'Mr Hislop' (Perpetual Trustees, Estate, and Agency' Con: pany), acting not, however, on behalf of Mrs Mulrenia, but on behalf of the transferee. * It appeared, further, that on the 23rd March Mrs Mulv >nia made *a payment of rent.— Mr Hislop, who attended to represent Mrs Chalmers, said that Airs Mulvenia could not have completed" her .title without making that payment. She had' completed her title to enable her to carry the proposed transfer through, and the purchase moirty had been deposited by Mrs Chalmers with ,a third party until the transfer should be effected.— Mr Clark remarked that the board could -not, compel Mrs Mulvenia to sign a transfer to Mrs Chalmers. — The Chief Commissioner said that of course Mrs Chalmers had a remedy at law.-^After some further discussion it was agreed to defer consideration of the application for a fortnight! to afford an opportunity for the parties to come, if possible, to an amicable arrangement.
