Draughts in Sydney.
A Sydney correspondent writes as follows : — Your Draughts column is greatly appreciated here. There is great interest taken in the game here now, and a handicap tournament starts to night, May 2. Seventeen players have entered and they are divided into four classes ; the first class gives 1 game of a start to the second class, 2to the third and 3 to the fourth, and six games have to be playod— each player to be defeated twice before he retires from the contest. All games in each round to be finished within seven days, the drawing for the first round resulted as under :— Player. Cla»s. Player. Glass. Boyce 1 plays Roberts 2 Drury 1 „ Jackman 4 Stormont 1 „ Scott 4 Reid 1 - Bye 0 Nairn 4 „ Brown 3 Shields 3 „ Milne 2 Trumper 2 „ Beiler 4 Wright 3 „ Cusack 3 Bray 4 „ Miller 2 The prizes announced are as follows :— First prize L 3, seocond L 2, third LI 10s, fourth LI. Mr Warnock is in Sydney, but is not playing any just now.
