Business Notices. BULBS! BULBS! BULBS ; THE season for planting spring-flowering bulhs having now arrived, I take an early opportunity of reminding my patrons of the fact that early autumn planting is imperative for a brilliant display of these harbingers of spring. Usually planting is delayed until winter, when the soil is cold and wet, thus giving the bulbs little or no chance to make the amount of roots necessary to produce robust, flowers. Those who saw my spring bulbs when in .bloom last season were amazed at the luxuriant growth and the strength of the flowers, especially growing in such an exposed position (as they were, unprotected from the severe south-west gales so prevalent in spring. Success was principally due to early autumn planting and discarding such varieties as were found to produce poor flowers or foliage. My immense collection (the largest in the colony) were never harvested in better condition, and my customers can rely that none but strong, healthy bulbs will be supplied. — Geobos Matthews, Bulb Grower, Moray place and Mornington.
