April s.— At a special meeting of the school committee on Wednesday nighf last it was agreed to recommend Miss Williams, of Tuapeka Webt, as teacher here. Miss Williams has been for some three years at Lawrence District High School, before which she was at the Tuapeka West School. She commences this morning. Harvest. —The crops are all but in here. Rabbits.— Mr Partridge has put on two traps to carry the rabbits from here to the Kelso factory, and there aro two running from Miller's Flat to meet him here, while Mr Partridge also employs a drag to meet him on the way from here. Picking them up as they go along. Mr Woods, of Beaumont, commences at Miller's Flat punt, and picks up the rabbits from thoso who catoli them going right through the Moa Flat station property by way of the woolshed, and on to the Kelso factory. Telephone.— l am given to understand -that Mr Valentine, M.H.R., is trying to get us telephonic connection. He thinks he will meet with better success this tinie, the more so on account of the late coach accident here.
