WATERBURY CONUNDRUM. A lady from Mount Eden road, Auckland, who seems to speak from an experience which, if painful, we trust is neither frequent nor free, sends us the following ;—; — From " M. A. E.," Auckland : ""Why is a Waterbury watch and an Auck-' land bankrupt alike P'V, " Because as soon as .they are ' wound up' they go on 'tick' again." We cannot see any necessity for local colouring, because bankrupts are as much like each other as it is possible to be wherever they are discovered. It's not complimentary to the « atcrbury to be compared with a bankrupt, we would rather see some trashy substitute that threatens to waterx bury every oilier watch spoken of in this connection. Wo know one or two that, if their agents don't see the error of their ways, pretty quickly will develop other points of resemblance.
