It appears from the inquiry of the relief inspector that persons unable to obtain work in Sydney are coming over here and straightway making for the Charitable Aid Board with the simple demand for work or rations.
A FARMERS' UNION.
The committee of the Auckland Agricultural Association, being fully convinced that united action on the part of farmers would greatly further the cause of agrirulture, have decided to attempt to consolidate the kindred societies in the province. No detailed scheme has as yet been formulated, but provision has been made for the full representation of the country societies at the meetings of the central body. It is obvious that were all affiliated to form one powerful organisation common action could be taken in all matters affecting their interests, and many abuses remedied with which individuals are now powerless to deal, while on the other hand the central association, backed by their support, could undertake on their behalf such duties as watching their interests in the House of Representatives,
