DUNEDIN HOUNDS.

" Woodeaton, Saturday, April 9!" Such is the announcement received by members of the above club reminding them that the hunting season has again come round, and that the favourite tryst has been selected for the opening day. The hunt starts operations under the most favourable auspices, for the pack has never been in better condition, and with the additions recently made, is stronger than on any previous season. Eleven couple of nice level harriers constitute the regular pack, and that they will be quite fast enough for the fastidious in the matter of pace there is no reason to doubt — a trifle too fast for many they will prove. Poole again carries the horn, and the size of the pack having justified the engagement of an additional whip, Campbell, who gained some experience with the Southland hounds, has been secured as second horseman. The familiar faces of Pioneer, Pahau, and Waitangi may be seen looking out of the boxes at the huntsman's establishment, and to these must be added a handsome well set-up gelding, Bluelight by name, ' who comes to Dunedin with a great reputation as a juniper, and if appearances go for anything he should be exceedingly clever. In the hunters named Poole has a quartet that would do credit to any establishment. With a good pack and those to cheer them on that no fence will stop, it only requires followers to make the season of 1892 a success. It is to be hoped' that there will be no lack of these, and that the sport of kings will flourish in Dunedin as ifc should. NIMHOD.
