CANTERBURY AGRICULTURAL NOTES.

(From. Our Own Correspondent.)

Ckristcuuhch, February 24. — With the exception of light showers at the end of last week, and heavy in some localities, the weather has been favourable for harvest, and good progress has been made with stacking. In the earlier districts most of the grain is now safe, but in later parts a great deal is still in the fields, farmers grudging to employ extra labour, which is now plentiful.

A good deal of wheat is being threshed from the stook, but the condition of samples shows this practice to be ill-advised ; grain being clammy and regarded with disfavour by both millers and shippers.

The market has not opened yet, and prices are not quotable.
