LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Land Board, held on Tuesday, was attended by the Chief Commissioner, Messrs J. Duncan, H. Clark, Dallas, aud M'Kcrrow.

Mrs Jessie Law applied for a grazing right over sections 13, 20, 21, and 22, block I, Maniototo dis*rict, and offered a rental of L 5 per annum in addition to keeping the sections clear of rabbits. — Consideration deferred.

Mr William Croinb applied for a grazing right over railway reserve and Eweburn Creek reserve, adjoining sections 2i, block V, and 4, block I, Maniototo district.— Referred to Chief Commissioner to arrauge. Mr John Noone objected to valuation for improvements on run 2440 of Ll7o los, and stated that 80 chains of fencing said to be adjoining the Manuhcrikia do not exist. — Referred to Ranger Huchan. Mr George Orel, the bolder of perpetual lease fl3(i, section 30, block XI, Catlins, requested tho Bo.vrrt to assist him by letting him woik out his rent in forming n road to the section. — The board decided that they had no power to comply with the request. The Board were requested to decide, in terms of section 57 of " Tho Land Act ISSS" bow the valuation for improvements on forfeited perpetual lease section 5, block V, Lower Wanaka district (Ll'J 17s (id) shall be dealt with. — It was resolved, subject to approval of the Governor, that tho amount of L 22 l(is Ski be paid to Timothy Whelan, late lessee of the section, out of L4l) 17s (Jd valuation allowed for improvements. District Surveyor Barron recommended that sections 38 to 44, 48 to 52, (53, 67 to 71, 73 to 7U, and 25!), block I, Blackstone district, be grouped into four selections and the price reduced to 15s per a^ re. —Referred to the chief surveyor for Mr Barron to send a sketch of the proposed grouping. Mr R. L Francis applied for a grazing right over section 20, block I, Maniototo district, adjoining section held by him under perpetual lease.—Consideration defeired.

Simpson drew the attention of the board to the fact that the valuation for fencing on small grazing run section 29, block XI, Ticer Hill district, and section lti, block IV, Lander district, m as excessive.— Referred to the ranger for report. Mr C. Martin, on behalf of Robert Cornell, applied to ba\e section 57, block 111, Glenoniaru district, temporary bush reserve, notified at capital value of 12s (id per acre— Referred to Ranger Hughan to report, as to whether it was advisable to tmflic for &alo and as to the upset price. The Maniototo County engineer forwarded a supplementary list .showing upon what roads it was intended to expend money accruing from pevnetual lonfec to lht November 1891.— Road lines approved. Application for rural land on perpetual lease for approval : Margartt Millar, section 11, block VII, Naseliy district —Approved. The transfer of perpetual lease section 2(>, block X, Woodland district, from A. J. Wiuglicld to Thomas Allan, was- approved. Mr C. Martin applied, on behalf of 11. W. Hurtolott, fur a tiansfer of .small grazing run over section 1, block VII, Siher Peak district, now held by him, to A. J. Scott.— Transfer approved. (i. V. B. Poynter applied to surrender small gra/in^ run over sections 8 and 2, block XII, Glenkcnich district.— Surrender accepted, ranger to make valuation of improvements, and land to be offered at fir.-,t opportunity. Mr A. Aitkenhead applied for a lease of such portions of the Waitaki river lied, on the Otago side, as might lie between the Otiakikie and Otiakc creeks for a term of years, and offered Is Od per acre per annum as rental.— Consideration deferred. Mr Alexander Forbes applied for a lease of section 48, block VIII, Papakaio district (an island in the Waitaki river) for grazing purposes, and offered Is per acre pur annum as rental.—Consideration deferred. The Receiver of Land Revenue forwarded a list of deferred payment licensees who arc in arrear with their instalments or interest. — To lie notified to pay up aneni's or show cause to the board why their licenses should not be forfeited on or before the 22nd March next.
