OTAGO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORA L A SSOCI ATION.

The monthly meeting of the committee of the Agricultural anrl Pastoral Association was held at the secretary's oflice on Saturday last. Present : Messis Cuningham Smith (chair), Duthie, Patrick. Sutherland, Charters, Wright, Macfarlane, and J. Smith, jun.

Letters were received from the Canterbury and Wellington A. and P. Association?, and Wiiitahuna Farmers' Club acknowledging the receipt of a circular letter re a case of disqualification that took place at the last show of the Otago A. and P. Association, endorsing .same, and promising to join in the formation of a stringent rule to meet such ca«os .should they occur in future. Tho Waitahuna Farmers' Club quoted a case and asked tho opinion of the Otago A. and 1". Association thereon. It seems that in one of tho classes there were only two exhibitors, Messrs Russell and M'Kenzie, both of wJiose exhibits— although passed and awarded prizes by the judges —were afterwards protested against, and the protest in both cases sustained by the committee. The club asked whether the fact of a person being disqualified debancd him from the right of protesting. It was resolved to reply — " That Mr Russell, as an exhibitor in the class, had a perfect light to protest against any otherexhibitor, in accwnlance with their rule 10. Mr Russell was nut disqualified, it was the animal exhibited by him." Resolved — "That the annual ram and owe fair lie held at the I3um\ide yards on Friday, 25th March."
