CRACK TROTTERS IN GROUPS.

(New York Turf, Field, and Farm.)

For the first time since we began the publication in groups of four of horses holding the fastest records, Maud S. drops to second place among mares, and Belle Hamlin, with her record of 2.12J, dibappears from the list. The 2.8| of Maud S. on a regulation track, however, is better than the 2.8j of Sunol on a kite, and the same is true of the 2J2|of Belle Hamlin when compared with the kite record of Margaret S. The new coiner to the mare list is Nancy Hanks, whose 2.9 was made on a regulation track. MARES. Su.voL.bmd&Sb'), by Electioneer, dam Waxana, by General Benton ; owned by Robert

This year ho is third in rank, aud Palo Alto, who was fourth with a record of 2.12J, has been lifted to the top. Staraboul, with a record of 2.11, and Axtell, with a three-year-old record of 2.12, disappear from tho group. The new comers are Allerton, five years old, and Arion, the incomparable two-year-old. Nelson is tho only horse in the group who matlo his record on ft regulation track. As Palo Alto is out of a strictly thoroughbred mare his rank attracts marked attention. STALLIONS. Norlaiue, who wns out of Elaino, the daughter of Green Mountain Maid, and who startled the world by trotting, in November 1887, a regulation track in 2.31^, has faded from the group, and Freedom has dropped from first to fourth place. Faustino and Sudio D. also disappear from the group. All the yearling records arc held by California. 1 BARLINGS. Yrou Ynou, eh f (1S90), by Sidney, dam Flirt, by Buccaneer ; owned by G. She is now third, but she is the only one in the group that made her record on a regulation track. Arion, bred at Palo Alto, has marched tcv the front with the startling record of 2.105. Will a two-year-old ever equal this performance ? We doubt it. Monbars, who trotted in 2.18 east of the Rocky Mountains, was taken to California, and there reduced his mark to 2.16£. Regal Wilkes, 2.20|; Wildflower, 2.21; and Vida Wilkes, 2.22|, disappear from tho group. TWO-YEAR-OLDS.
