A LARGE LAND SALE. Gisborne, October 26.
An Auction sal« was h^M to <Hy of laud now belonging to the New Zealand Estates Company, formerly owned by the Native Land Settlement Company. There was a very l»rge attendance, including several visitors to "the district, and the sale was a successful one. Many thousand acres were submitted, changing hands at a satisfactory flsrnre. Mr Percival Barker bought. 9402 acres of Waimata land at from 25a to 28s an acre; Mr Liudells Strachaß, 3750 acres r-t 235, and 545 at 335 ; at Tangihaoga, 4500 acres were sold to Mr Dobbie at 22s 6d per acre ; at Waibora, 304 acres to Mr J. C Price at £2 per acre ; 1200 acres of Mangahea land passed to various buyers at from £1 to £1 2s per acre. 33,000 acres were sold before lunch. The total sum of £58,448 was realised for the land sold to-day, and the eale is regarded as very satisfactory. •
